Committee Chairperson Volunteer Position Description
Announcer
Not Required The individual that uses the loudspeaker system to let swimmers and parents know what events are coming up. Not to be confused with the starter (see Meet Officials). You'll hear the announcer say “first call for event …”.  We need announcers for both Wednesday and Saturday home meets. Chairperson not required, just use the volunteer signup form to be the announcer.
Beat Your Best Jill & Anson Hayashi Uses the team manager software to keep track of swimmer's times in each event. Lets swimmers know when they have beaten their previous best time. (Usually by placing a sticker in the swimmer's mail box.) The Beat Your Best function is something that can be done at home in the days following the swim meet. If you are somewhat comfortable with computers, this is the job for you.
Bullpen
- Wed
- Sat
This is the place where the young swimmers go prior to their race.  Bullpen workers corral those kids and get them to the starting blocks on time.  Normally there are 2 - 4 bullpen workers. Volunteers are needed for both home and away meets. Ideally, the chairperson would be the one "go to" person that would organize the bullpen each home meet.
Concessions
- Wed
- Sat
Ali Price & Deb Randel Concessions offers a lot of volunteering opportunities from overall organizer (the Chairperson) to "worker bee" at the concession table. Organizing concessions takes a fair amount of work, but we have a small binder with typed instructions and lots of helpful ideas.
COSA Representative Sarah Ellsworth The person who goes to the COSA league meetings.
Data Entry and Ribbons
- Wed
- Sat

Kate Bendure & Suzie Loushin

Lots of volunteer opportunities here. The chairperson(s) are responsible for making sure the times get entered into the computer and the ribbon labels get printed in slapped onto the ribbons. Scoring for the Wednesday night meets is done by the Meet Manager software, so no calculations are required. Each meet requires 1 or 2 people to enter data and 1 or 2 people to slap the labels onto the ribbons.. Volunteers are needed for both home and away meets.
Fund Raising   Coordinate with local restraints for "Otter nights" where we can earn money for eating out. Come up with other ideas for fund raising.
GCSL Representative Cheryl Miller The person who goes to the GCSL league meetings.
Head Timer Not Required The head timer is an extra timer that serves as a backup in case any of the other "regular" timers experience a malfunction during a particular race. This position is one of the easiest volunteer positions, since most of the time, the head timer does nothing but start their watch at the beginning of the each race and clear their watch at the end of the race. Every once in a while, a regular timer will raise a hand indicating a problem and the head timer fills in. (Normally "filling in" means exchanging stop watches so the regular timer can continue timing the race.).
Meet Official
- Wed
- Sat

Mike Straw (Wed)
??? (Sat)
This includes the starter (the person who says "take your marks ..." and starts each race), stroke and turn judges. Stroke and turn judges are the officials that watch the swimmers for illegal strokes and turns. Volunteers are needed for both home and away meets.
Team Apparel Chris Bischel Responsible for the swim suit sale and ordering team apparel.
Timer
- Wed
- Sat
Mary & Dave Reed
Lots and lots of volunteer positions here. Each home meet needs 16 timers plus a head timer. The away meets usually need 8 timers. If you can push a button and read, you can time. Besides, you get the best location from which to view the swim meet. The timer Chairperson is responsible for bringing the stop watches to the meet and collecting them after the meet.
